Privacy Policy

Who I am
This is my personal site. In this policy, "I," "me," and "my" mean James Praise. There is no company behind it, no accounts, and nothing for sale here. This policy explains what I collect when you visit jamespraise.xyz and why.
What I collect
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages you visit, how you got here, your device and browser type, and your rough location (country or city, not your exact address). This comes through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Session recordings and heatmaps: through Microsoft Clarity, so I can see where people get stuck or lose interest on a page and fix it.
- Which case study you clicked on: when you click into a client case study or side project from the Work page, a small event fires so I can see which ones get the most interest. It carries the slug of the page you clicked, nothing about you personally.
Information you give me
Every "Talk to James" button and email link on this site opens your own email client with a pre-filled draft. Nothing is captured by the site itself when you click one, your message only reaches me if you actually send that email. If you do write to me, I keep that email the way anyone keeps correspondence.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies and similar technology, mainly:
- Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, to see how the site is used.
- Microsoft Clarity, for anonymized heatmaps and session recordings.
A few pages also embed YouTube videos and a Substack newsletter widget. Those embeds are served by Google and Substack directly and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, not mine.
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Turning them off will not break the site, you just won't show up in my analytics.
Why I use this information
- To see which pages and case studies actually interest people.
- To find and fix things that are confusing or broken.
- To understand roughly who is reading this site and from where.
I don't sell anything on this site, run ads on it, or share this data with advertising platforms.
Who I share it with
I don't sell your information. The only parties that see any of it are the analytics providers named above (Google, Microsoft) as processors of that data, and, if you email me, whoever I might loop into that conversation on my side to help respond.
Third-party links
This site links out to other things I run (Marketing In Action, RealTalk) and to real client companies, my social profiles, and my GitHub. Once you leave jamespraise.xyz, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Your rights
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Since the only personal data I hold is what analytics tools log automatically or what you choose to email me, there usually isn't much to find, but ask and I'll check.
Changes to this policy
If I change what this site tracks or how, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
